Civic Auditorium – Gymnasiums

The Civic Auditorium is a multi-dimensional facility which serves the community as a common place for meetings, exhibit shows, social events, festival activities, and sporting games. The Parks and Recreation administrative offices along with the athletic office and maintenance staff are housed within the Civic Auditorium. The facility has multiple rooms of all sizes to rent for functions.  Many of the rooms have themed decor to commemorate Kingsport past and present.

The Facility features:

The Civic Main Auditorium contains a 110’ x 70’ flat rubber material floor space with 15’ ceilings, striped for recreation level basketball and tennis courts. Portable basketball goals and tennis net are available. At one end of the room there is a 21’x 32’ elevated stage with motorized curtains.  The ceiling lights have dimmers.  An outside marquee may be rented to promote events in the Main Auditorium.

V.O. Dobbins, Sr. Complex – Gymnasiums

V.O. Dobbins, Sr. Complex is a multi-purpose facility adjacent to a neighborhood park.  The facility was originally Douglass High School and the school mascot was a tiger.

The Facility features include:

Two climate controlled, high school regulation size gymnasiums with hardwood floors.  Each gym is equipped with bleacher seating, electronic scoreboards and locker rooms with showers. Gym 1 has a seating capacity of 100 persons. Gym 2 has a seating capacity of 220 persons and has a curtain divider. Each gym is suitable for basketball, volleyball and pickleball. Concessions (operated by Kingsport Parks and Recreation) are also available during events.

Meeting spaces, a small kitchen/meeting area, lease space, game tables, a climbing wall, a computer room, public art pieces, community gardens and an outdoor courtyard are also available at the facility. An outdoor asphalt basketball court is also available in the adjacent Riverview Park.

Lynn View Community Center – Gymnasiums

Lynn View Community Center is a multi-purpose facility adjacent to a neighborhood park. The facility was originally a High School whose mascot was the Lynx.

The Facility features include:

A climate controlled, high school regulation size gymnasium with hard wood floors.  The gymnasium has stadium bleachers with the capacity to seat approximately 1000 and an electronic scoreboard.  The gymnasium is equipped for adult basketball, volleyball and pickleball.

Meeting spaces, outdoor athletic fields and a senior center are also available at the facility. The hours for Lynn View Community Center vary.

Renaissance Center – Gymnasiums

The Kingsport Renaissance Center is a facility which serves the community as a center for the arts, community recreation, senior citizen’s activities, and as a facility for business meetings, parties, receptions, classes, showers, and day-long seminars with breakout rooms.

The facility includes a 350-seat theater, three-story sky lit atrium, art gallery, gymnasium, meeting rooms and offices. The Kingsport Renaissance Center, formerly the John Sevier School, was renovated in 1991 and now stands as one of Kingsport’s most prominent landmarks. It is an architect’s masterpiece and stands as a constant reminder of Kingsport’s history and as a reality of creative dreams. The Renaissance Center’s diversity makes it unique and truly a model that sets renovation standards by which all others can be measured.

The Facility features:

A small recreation style gymnasium with elevated spectator seating.  The gymnasium has hard wood flooring and is suitable for basketball, volleyball and pickleball.
